What is the Fox Cities Dance Marathon (FCDM)?

FCDM is a dance marathon held at the Appleton North High School to raise money for the local Children's Hospital. All pledges the dancers raise will go straight to towards other members of our community who desperately rely on Children's Hospital for check-ups and treatments.

What do I have to do to be a dancer?

In order to be a dancer, you must completely fill out the Dancer Registration Form, T-Shirt order Form, and completely read the Dancer Packet. You can find those documents by clicking here. After filling out the forms, you can either choose to hand the forms in on the night of the Dance Marathon, or you can put them in one of the registration forms boxes. These boxes are located in the main office of Appleton North, the business office of Appleton North, the main office of Appleton East, or the main office of Appleton West.

Another thing all dancers must do is raise $100. You can turn this money in on the day of the dance.

                I have to raise $100? That's a lot!

Yes it is, but keep in mind that this all goes back to people from your community. If you make a FirstGiving page, you will raise $100 in no time!

What things do I need for the check-in at the day of the event?

To make sure check-in goes smoothly, we ask that you have all your pledges in an envelope, arrive on time (check-ins start at 8:00 P.M so please be here no later than 9:30 P.M.), and if you are part of a team, please try to arrive together.

What does it mean to be a dancer?

Being a dancer means that you are not only making a commitment to yourself but you are also making a commitment to your school, to your community and most importantly, to the children who are inflicted with cancer. You are much more than just a single dancer. You're a beacon of hope to those families who are suffering through these diseases.

Is there going to be food and drink at the dance?

Yes, food and drink will be supplied to the dancers. There will be subs, pizza, sandwiches, etc. There will also be vegeterian and vegan choices as well. There is only one rule about the drinks - no caffine is allowed. It's under your power to stay up for 12 hours straight by yourself. There will be no coffee, no caffeinated soda, no tea, and no energy drinks.

Are there going to be other events going on, or do I have to dance all night?

You do not have to dance all night. There will be contests, games, food, drinks, and more.

                Is this really 12 hours?

Yes it is. When you sign up to participate in the FCDM, you are committing 12 hours towards a great cause. It is highly encouraged that you stay all 12 hours, but if you must leave you will not be let back in.

Is the registration fee included in the $100 pledge?

No, the registration fee is separate from the your pledges. The $100 worth of pledges is required to get into the event, the $5 registration fee is for your t-shirt that you will receive.

Can I bring my friends to this?

Yes! Everyone is welcome! Just make sure they turn in the registration forms by the required dates.

This is 12 hours, I don't know what to bring!

Don't panic! We will have storage area for your extra items, but keep in mind that space is limited so bring as little as possible. You will be able to access your things if you need to. Here's an example of what you should and shouldn't have:

                What you should bring:

                -extra pairs of socks
-comfortable clothing (keep in mind you’ll be moving around a lot for 12 hours!)
                -deodorant (nothing aerosol is allowed)
                -bandages/support
-any pledges you haven’t turned in

                What you should not bring:

-jewelry (we are saying nothing overly dramatic, keep it minimal)
-extra food and/or beverages, this will be provided at the event
-a lot of money, iPod, or other valuables, FCDM is NOT responsible for stolen or lost items-more than one bag (as mentioned before, storage space is limited)

If I have a FirstGiving page, how do I turn in the pledges I have earned?

You don not have to worry about physically handing in pledges you have earned on FirstGiving. Our databases keep track of everyone who has a Firstgiving page, and we will print out a sheet with your pledge information on the day of the dance.

I signed up to receive text alerts. Will I get spammed? What kind of info will I get texts about?

No, we will not be sending spam. The text alerts you receive will contain information dates in terms of registration. We will also be updating our Facebook and Twitter every hour, if not more, during the event.

Why do you need my age on the registration form?

Because this event is open to everyone, we ask for ages to ensure those under the age of 18 have the parental release signed.

Can I order t-shirts for my family and friends who are not participating?

Yes you can, that is why "quantity" is asked on the t-shirt order form. You can order as many t-shirts as you want, but keep in mind there is a due date for the order forms.

If I have more questions who do I ask?

You can contact us through email at foxcitiesdm@gmail.com, or if you don't check your email often; You can post your questions on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/foxcitiesdm) and one of our FCDM coordinators will answer your question. You can also tweet at us (@foxcitiesdm or www.twitter.com/foxcitiesdm), but if your question is more than 140 characters long, we recommend the other two options.
